Position

  • Open the naloxone package
  • Lay the person on their back if you can
  • Tilt their head back and support their neck

Press

  • Place the nozzle into either nostril
  • Press the plunger firmly to give them the full dose

Wait

  • Gently move them onto their side in the recovery position
  • If they continue to struggle breathing, wait 2–3 minutes and give them another dose in the other nostril
  • Stay with them until medical help arrives
